Hareswith Pond, owned by Croydon's Old Town Youth Club, is a beautiful ancient woodland on the outskirts of Storrington that has been enjoyed for young people for over a century.

The woods feature meandering streams, a large pond, and stunning native wildflowers; it's an idyllic place where you can easily imagine the joy that children experience when spending time in the woods. However the woodland has some quite extensive areas where invasive species have taken over, as well as issues with Ash Dieback.

Whilst the Youth Club volunteers have been tackling the huge task of removing diseased trees, Lost Woods project volunteers have this year been helping to remove some of the invasive species at Hareswith Pond to encourage greater biodiversity and improve the habitat. We have also provided the Youth Club with an Ancient Woodland Survey and management plan to support them with looking after the woods long-term.
